Built from Lived Sacrifice: The Founder's Journey
Changing Steps was born not from theory, but from the courageous lived journey of Executive Director Lovety Jiple.
Lovety Jiple
Refugee Advocate • Youth Mentor • Community Catalyst
Carrying the Weight of Dreams
Lovety Jiple arrived in the United States as a refugee at age 18. She carried the heavy weight of an entire family—supporting a disabled mother, a brother, a niece, and four nephews. Survival demanded courage from day one.
High School by Day, Shifts by Night
Attending high school by day and working late grocery shifts by night, Lovety pedaled her bicycle miles through the freezing Colorado winter dark, driven by an unshakeable belief that education is the doorway to freedom.
Refusing to Lose Another Youth
Watching talented refugee youth get swallowed by street life simply for lack of a trusted mentor, Lovety founded Changing Steps—built on relentless love, direct advocacy, and real empowerment.
